So radicalbright has a handy place to test pingbacks and trackbacks. Let’s see if it works then shall we?

AJAXy goodness

I know, I know, it’s just a fad, but it’s just so damn cool! Try the new improved search box, which thanks to AJAX and DHTML courtesy of Prototype and Script.aculo.us is the sweetest thing going, including candy. Justifiable use of a few hours of learning and tweaking? No. Cool? Damn straight.

UPDATE:  OK, it actually works cross-browser now, and has a very Web2.0 loader to keep you happy until the results show up.

More confanglement

19th of August, 2006 at 8:20 pm in Wordpress | No Comments

More styling (theming, you might say) today, especially of the comments section. A bit of underhand CSS reverse-engineering as well, so apologies to WASABI for that. To me, CSS is like some irritating gremlin who’s joy comes solely from seeing me break down in tears when things don’t behave like their z-index would make you believe (hint: bang a position:relative in there and happy times are here again).

I did a bit of making times and dates be like I want them to be as well, but not much to say there. I also took, though I forgot in the excitement where from, a nifty comment icon which you can peruse above, or in the bottom right-hand corner of the page if you dare scroll down that far. That’s a list that is.

Oh! tentative first post

DSC00669As may or may not be usual, firstly I must talk about what I have most recently been doing: setting up this. It is, as the banner along the bottom will tell you, Wordpress with some confangling on my part done to it. What confanglement, you ask? What a pertinant question. You shall go far, young thing.

Firstly a custom theme, to make it look all nice, new clickys coming up in green and old clickys coming up in joyous purple. The wise might notice that these look like complementary colours (i.e. one is white minus the other), but you have been fooled. The actual complement of the green is a purple, but a far more obnixious one. Thus endeth the lesson. But that was the work of a moment. What really bent the old bean was getting Flickr integration working. I used Flickr Photo Gallery from Silas Partners. Only thing is, this now gives me a reason to want to use Flickr, and I’m already up to the 3 set limit. Shame, because I don’t take enough photos to warrant spending money on it. Some sort of alternative is in order, it would seem.

Before I forget, here’s the gallery. And above is an image I just inserted, because I was really curious how it worked. It also happens to be one I think is kinda cool.
